Retreat at Mojo Plantation is a unique
project that combines eco-tourism with sustainable
agriculture and environmental education. Our
internationally renowned eco-lodge is situated on a
certified Organic farm in the tropical montane rainforests of
the Western Ghats of Kodagu (Coorg) district in southern Karnataka.
We welcome environmentally conscious travelers who want to experience a harmonious existence with nature. Surrounded by rolling hills and densely forested valleys, this area is a paradise for nature lovers. Experience the amazing biodiversity of the Western Ghats as you explore remote idyllic valleys and tropical forests or learn how coffee, cardamom, pepper, vanilla are sustainably cultivated under the shade of rainforest trees. This region offers some of the finest trekking and birding in Southern India.
Proceeds support WAPRED, an environmental NGO dedicated to nature by promoting organic farming and biodiversity conservation.
Lockdowns and travel restrictions may be easing, but the corona virus is going to be around for some time; so we must all take extra precautions, especially when traveling.
Here at the Rainforest Retreat, our cottages are already virtually isolated from the outside world. For the coming months (in the interest of your safety and ours), we are operating each cottage as a self-service, self-contained unit for weekly or monthly rental.
This is a great chance to experience some simple and sustainable living in the lap of nature. Presently, Atlas and Luna cottages are available with sanitized self-cooking facilities. Guidance will be provided to explore the plantation and surroundings. Personal interaction with staff will be minimal as social distancing is the new normal at the Retreat.
Ideal for families and small groups

Since its inception in 2000, the Rainforest Retreat has attracted an interesting mix of visitors from all walks of life – scientists, artists, farmers, students, drop-outs, hippies, young and old etc — all linked together by a love and respect for nature.
Together, we have grown organically into an educational platform to raise awareness about environmental issues and the urgent need for conservation of biodiversity.
