Mojo Plantation was founded in 1994 by Drs Sujata and Anurag Goel. Sujata has a PhD. from the Botany Dept of Delhi University and Anurag has completed his studies (PhD. in Molecular Biology) in Toronto, Canada.
We left behind the rat race of urban living to explore an organic way of life and a more harmonious existence with nature. Together with our daughter Maya, we have made this very special rainforest environment our home.
Our previous research experience in the fields of biological sciences includes botany, plant biochemistry, genetics, ecology and molecular biology. We have lived and worked here for over 25 years developing our place as a model for conservation through agro-ecology and sustainable tourism. Our conservation efforts have been recognized by a recent award from Carl Zeiss foundation and Sujata has been a very active member of OFAI (Organic Farmers Association of India). As OFAI president she hosted the World Organic Congress held in Delhi in 2017.
Our scientific knowledge and experiences here will provide you valuable insights into the ecology of this region and culture of its people, and our hospitality will ensure that you will want to come back again.
Income from the Rainforest Retreat funds the activities of the WAPRED Research Foundation (Worldwide Association for Preservation and Restoration of Ecological Diversity), an environmental NGO.
The success of the Rainforest Retreat and Mojo Plantation depends on the hard work of our management, staff and interns.
